Little Shifts
_______________________________________________________
“Little Shifts” is my book published by Sourcebooks. The book is about engaging your imagination, cultural transformation, and using incremental change. Here are some excerpts. I’ve added some bold text to make it easier on the eyes.
From the Introduction:
Rapid fundamental changes are transforming our world. Your vision is part of that change. Discovering your unique vision depends upon your ability to imagine a world you would live in tomorrow. By opening a little door of communication, you can begin right now to engage your deep imaginative process. This book is about joyfully opening those doors.
Perhaps you are entering your fifties, a time of great creativity and expansiveness. Or, you may be a young woman starting out in the world with equal portions of uncertainty, excitement, and potential. You could be retired and ready to travel, play, and experience the world in new ways. No matter where you walk in the world today, the unique way you experience and interpret life is critical to the creation of a healthy future.
You may not know what your vision is right now. Don’t worry! Finding your vision and your unique form of expression is a playful process made up of tiny deliberate choices. Each choice has an effect on the quality of your life today and the future of our culture and our world. As you read, you are already beginning to engage your imagination in the process of choosing a path to joy.
I believe imagination is our premium resource. We carry within us the lost diversity this planet. needs. Engaging our individual expression, using imagination to inform, expand, and guide us, we can begin to return to Eden.
The world seems so disinterested in the offerings of the creative mind. Women especially have been ignored in the arts. What we are left with is a background “whine,” a little voice that wants us to take the day off. I believe that we have enormous unrealized ability to imagine, envision, and create our lives. I see diversity, nature’s premium resource, in all of us. Unique perspectives and abilities are woven through us.
As the future becomes now, I see a terrific need for every facet of this originality.
We must begin now, with small steps, today, to recognize and become all that we are meant to be: Powerfully imaginative, multidimensional beings walking on earth with compassion, joy, and an open armed inspiration to share with the world.
Here we are now, the material of a metamorphosis. We are love, and we are whole beings. Two things are missing: One is recognition of our resourcefulness. The other is deliberate choice.
With this book I bang the drum to announce the arrival of a culture of imagination. My vision tells me that our transforming culture now needs all beings in their highest creative state:
* interacting, suffusing each others’ lives with inner wisdom developed over centuries. We must share our stories, singing them, dancing them, painting, writing, and publishing them.
* growing our diversity into a harmonic kaleidoscope of expression, our dreams can then coalesce into a cultural vision.
“Little Shifts” is available through the link below and in bookstores. To receive my special posts on creativity and innovation, including some of the exercises from “Little Shifts,” be sure to join us as a member of Great Adaptations, up at the top of the page.

I’ve completed the first chapter. It has already sent me back to work on a goal I had let go of when I got busy. I really like the conversational style of the book. It makes it easy to digest and put into practice.
