The way hub system works is the shipments are consolidated at a central point and then sorted before on forwarding to the final destination. So, for example, if your shipment is going from the UK to France, this is what the flow may look like: The local depot collects your parcel It’s then transported to a local hub within the UK and consolidated with all the other international packages.
What makes an international courier service different from most other transportation services is that they work through a hub system. The way hub system works is the shipments are consolidated at a central point and then sorted before on forwarding to the final destination. So, for example, if your shipment is going from the UK to France, this is what the flow may look like:

The local depot collects your parcel

It’s then transported to a local hub within the UK and consolidated with all the other international packages.

It’s then flown to a central European hub in Germany, Belgium or some other central EU country.

Once it arrives at the hub, all the shipments from France coming from all over the world are then sorted and forwarded to a local hub in France

From there the packages are again sorted by delivery depot and forwarded to the local delivering depot.

Courier services are 24-hour operations, hubs work through the night sorting millions of packages and on forwarding to their final destinations. Most modern hubs are fully automated and operates with new military precision, overhead scanners scan each parcels barcode and ramps automatically carry and sorting the packages. As systems become more advanced carriers are able to sort larger volumes of shipments faster and more efficiently, which leads to even more reliability and faster transit times.

The same purpose seems to be emerging this year with the Mutation Series. The Mutation Series a collection of lines and generous seating that breaks the code of its kind. This is a work that can be approached, according to the Belgian designer, through two levels of reading: On one hand, the Mutation Series can be seen as a mutation of cells, a chemical reaction, or the uncontrolled development of a virus or bacteria. This is a vision that symbolizes the current period in which it refers to a problem and an interesting question for the future. The other, this collection of seating can also be seen as a rewriting of a contemporary and sculptural classic design by the famous Chesterfield Sofa. Handcrafted from foam volumes, covered with rubber in the end for a velvety finish, each piece of the series is totally unique.
