Social Media, our brains, and support

I’m writing about my experiences at Social Media Camp, and all the gazillions of connections it triggered, over at the Examiner.

Here’s the link for the first article, “Inside the brain of social media, my brain and Erica O’Grady

And here’s the second one, “Making connections with the business-builders in social media.”

There’s much more to come, as I can’t seem to process the information quickly enough before it mushrooms into another world of its own, which I then have to navigate.

I think it’s time for a brain break myself!

cheers

    Hi Suzanna,

What a lovely person you are to know!

Well, my brain would have probably exploded in a huge convention of Social Media people as well. There is a huge gap between the technical people and the common person. I am somewhere in the middle, but there is so much to learn every day! It seems that each week brings some new site or tool to integrate into my daily or weekly routines. I try to just learn one new big thing a week, but we are always behind!!

My best tip to making real connections with people that you meet online, is to connect with them in 3 or 4 places, and/or in different ways. A phone call here and there, a coffee date with someone local, or 2 or 3 social networking sites should do it if you are friendly. You become familiar by that point.

My favorite way to really get to know people now is to interview them on my blog talk radio show, or by video conference for my youtube channel. It is so much fun! We both feel very close after the interview.

    Great job on the blog.

    Wonderful to know you,

    Sally
